Our History In Racing

Our Racing Team - Ashley King

I started racing in 2016 riding a YZF-R6 with east midlands racing association (EMRA) all of the EMRA rounds are held at Mallory park, I had a decent year with fantast’s laps and podium finishes, we took 5th in the rookie championship, we only did 4 rounds so we was very happy with our year.

We started 2017 trying to go better than we did in 16 with improvements to lap times and racing at more circuits which we achieved we had fantastic results at Darly moor and Donington park returned back to EMRA for some more podium finishes it was a strong year for us but we felt that I was starting to outgrow the R6 so we decide to move the much larger are more powerful YZF-R1, this would not only help me in the way of size as I am a larger rider but would progress my riding.

A new year started with a new bike and a massively experienced crew chief in the hands of Stewart Winton 2018 would be a huge year for me we started the year with a new bike and a new club, we are now racing in the Thundersport GB paddock this is the largest paddock in the UK for club racing, we did rounds with these guys and had out of the 6 we had fantastic results and was happy with our progress we also raced with no limit’s, NG racing and EMRA we took race wins or podiums with all these clubs it was truly a fantastic year!

2019 started we decided that I was going to race the whole year with our local club which is EMRA our plan was to fight for the all comers and Build base championships, we didn’t start partially well we had a crash this coursed us to miss 2 races in that round! The rest of the year was challenging with some bike issues and bad luck but again we had a fantastic year with podiums and race win’s we finished the year with a 3rd in the all comers and 5th so we was over the moon with our best ever championship finishes!

We look to 2020 again building the latest R1 with better engine performance to hopefully improve we are going to try and take both of the build base and all comers titles with EMRA we cannot wait for the challenge! Thank you to my family for making this happen and all our supporters!

Our Sponsored Riders Pre-2015

Our first real involvement with racing started off when we sponsored Billy McConnell, we then basically started our own team which led to Billy winning the Virgin R6 cup in 2005 with our help. We have his leathers which he used in the race series, standing proud in our showroom. Billy McConnell then went on to a very successful career and became Super Sport champion in 2014, to which we have supported him throughout. We also continue to support racers such as James Ellison in his Yamaha Milwaukee career, and also many others in this exciting BSB series.

For 2015 we are very proud to announce our continued partnership with Milwaukee Yamaha and SMR Racing for 2015. We have been partners with Milwaukee Yamaha since this year, so look out for our logo on their clothing/visors and leathers.

We are also very proud to be personal sponsors of James Rispoli and Andy Reid in their quest for their very fast flowing race series, both riders are in the Keith Flint (The Prodigy) Team Traction Control. James from the USA will be fighting for top position in every race, for sure; also Irish bound Andy Reid will be fighting in his first rookie season in the British Super Sport series.

We believe this is a big achievement and we are proud to be part of the Milwaukee Yamaha team, being involved with Mick Shanley, Shaun Muir and the rest of the team. Our biggest involvement is with the British Superbike rider Josh Brookes. We have personally sponsored Josh for 2 years now and our Managing Director, Jonathan King is a close friend of Josh’s, so he regularly comes down to visit our team for a chat.
Last year was a good year for Josh and the whole of Milwaukee Yamaha in general, with Tommy Bridewell getting a podium finish with 3rd, and with Josh only in his first year with Yamaha, finished 4th. 2015 is looking like an exciting season for us with the new 2015 YZF R1 in the team’s armoury with its incredibly high spec and ultimate super sport pedigree it’s sure to kick up a storm in both MotoGP and BSB. The team also welcomes its new riders in Michael Dunlop and Broc Parkes looking to kick start their first season with Milwaukee. Jonathan, Lisa and the whole team at Tamworth Yamaha wish Josh and the rest of the Milwaukee Yamaha team the best of luck for this season.
